[TurBiohacks 2025] (EXTRA POINTS?!) - Day 1 Online Lecture Series
Dear all,
We would like to share two lecture recording series that we have prepared for you all. Hint: You DO want to head to #lecture-series and #lecture-feedback for some perks!
---
The second part of the larger lecture series will be from Stanford iGEM's very own SIBRP (Stanford iGEM Bioengineering Research Program). This year, SIBRP received over 2000 applications from students around the world, and selected 200 participants for the program, where the Stanford iGEM team members give lectures on synthetic biology content, as well as interesting guest lecturers in the field.
For those interested in learning more about synthetic biology but did not get a chance to participate this summer, we encourage you to watch this series (it is pretty long, but worth it!), and apply for SIBRP when applications open up next year again!
The lecture recordings can be accessed here! You will watch some TurBiohacks mods give lectures! Very cool <3 https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1a6r7uehZn7H_Xjk6HwkFemA_1xuskof8?usp=sharing

The third part of the larger lecture series will be from National Taiwan University’s very own Fermentation Laboratory in the Department of Biochemical Science and Technology. Led by Professor Lee, the lab has a long history of research on probiotics and bioproduction, with a strong focus on building sustainable alternatives to petrochemical processes.
In this talk, PhD candidate Michael Jang shares his journey of engineering E. coli strains for the production of α,ω-dioic acids — valuable compounds that can be applied in pharmaceuticals, biodegradable plastics, and biofuels. The lecture also highlights broader strategies in metabolic engineering, bioreactor scale-up, and how microbial biotechnology contributes to the circular economy.
For those curious about how biology can drive innovation toward climate solutions and industrial sustainability, we highly recommend watching this session (it’s full of inspiring science and practical insights!)

Michael will also appreciate any and all questions/ comments from you all, and so please respond to this message with any thoughts & ideas!
Let us know if you have any questions/ concerns. We look forward to hearing from you all!
Warmly,
